Elizabeth Marie is an artist, author, and creative thinker who specializes in the creation of visual art and with the powerful use of the written word to move hearts into living life to its divine purpose.

At this moment in time, she’s put her art on a semi hiatus as she takes time to heal her body from Stage IIIC Endometrioid Peritoneal cancer treatments. She’s in the great care of MD Anderson and Texas Oncology. The road has been quite a journey with her focus on quality of living. As a blossomed business owner and innovative community leader, her art was exhibited in a myriad of locations including the prominent Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine and Bush International Airport in Houston Texas.

Elizabeth, or E or Marie and even EMarie, since the idea of two first names is perplexing, she finds being addressed in a myriad of deviations of Elizabeth to be the call of her smile. In the decades she’s been on this planet, there have been few things that have been consistently hers, art and her keen connection to all that is spiritual.

She has a crazy wondrous life story, as most do, yet hers has a uniqueness that might surprise most. She knows that her being on this planet is designed as an inciteful communicator since her gifts and talents encompass the passion for creation.

Her creativity is constantly flowing from brush to pencil to word. A righteously rich history of community involvement, public speaking, philanthropy, and business management enriches each piece of art she creates with each stroke of a brush. The story of the soul portrait

The story of the Soul Portrait was born from a very infuriating moment. I was to meet friends for the night and they all dissed me. We were doing a crazy “speak with a psychic night”. Since I was already there and drove the hour, I decided to make a night of it.

I signed up with the first psychic that had an open space. He was an odd-looking older fellow, and as I sat down in the chair opposite of him, I noticed he moved his hands from the table to the sanitizer bottle and pumped it 2 times. After rubbing it in he dropped his hands palm ups on the table, looked me in the eye and said, “well, take my hands.” I was so put off, mind you this was 2010, long before hand sanitizer was the norm of the pandemic culture. I instantly felt like I was tainted.

He began speaking, rambling, speculating and I sat there listening. Then he says, “Your art is just too colorful and happy. It’s awful art.” It took my breath away. I respect people being honest with their feelings that come up around me and my talents, but that…them thar fightin’ words. “OH!” I respond, “then what?” He said that I need to “paint darker, black. Not so happy, just not that horrible bright color stuff.”

I was so happy when the 20-minute timer went off. Hearing the ding, pulled my hands back with respite and a torte “thank you”. I left murmuring “I’ll show you. You want black, I can paint black”.

I’m always up to proving someone hasn’t a clue about what I can and can’t do. And with a great welling-up of emotions from anger to bliss, to sadness and resolve, I took a blank canvas panel and painted it completely black and waited. What I experience were connections to art, to soul and the universe.

Yes, sounds unorthodox, yet, in life we are more, more than defined by others, and what I and the persons who have purchased a Soul Portrait, whether to do inner work, or have a cool piece of art work that’s a great conversation ‘all about you’ center piece; it’s a visual story of known and unknown

I write and produce original music and create visual stories that bring those songs to life—combining words, imagery, sound and whatever creative rabbit hole the idea happens to lead me down.

The medium changes. The need to create doesn't.
